Is it the recession or just feebay? I guess some people really believe this stuff, I thought it was funny so I thought I would share. What do you think? http://cgi.ebay.com/BUFFALO-NICKEL-...25375?pt=Art_Photo_Images&hash=item5888eb03df
Chief Big Tree was indeed one of the three Indian Chiefs who posed for the composite image that appeared on the obverse of the Buffalo Nickel. But the Buffalo Nickel (aka Indian Head Nickel) was released in 1913 so wouldn't he have posed before the coin was released?
Fraser featured a profile of a Native American on the obverse of the coin, which was a composite portrait of three Native Americans: Dewey Beard, a Miniconjou Sioux chief, Two Moons, a Cheyenne chief, and Big Tree, a Kiowa chief. He was one of the three, but that doesn't make his photo worth a premium.
If I positively knew that the photo was authentic I would pay a smallish premium for one of the pics. But personally, I believe the photo's belong together in a museum somewhere, where everyone could enjoy them...
