Hi Everyone, My folks bought these coins in Beirut in 1968. I have no idea if they are worth anything. Any guidance will be deeply appreciated.
I wouldn't trust any coin bought in the Middle East. That area of the world is a notorious breeding ground of fake factories....
I agree with Prestoninanus. Many years ago I had the opportunity to visit several Middle Eastern countries. At the time I was not into coin collecting, otherwise, I would have bought just like you. I was amazed to see so many shops making “Authentic” antiques! Through some conversations I was able to understand that they were duplicating which they feel makes their product “Authentic.” Once again Buyer Beware!
Thanks! Hi Guys, Many thanks for the guidance. I'm not a serious collector but when my folks told me where and when they bought these, I had the same skepticism as you. As a favor to my mom I promised I'd ask around. She was hoping they might be of some value and I couldn't find any other resource to compare them against. I really appreciate your time and help!
