I just picked up this Frankfurt ND (1839) 1 Kreuzer coin at my local coin shop today for around $10. I love the city portrait on the reverse, you can even see little boats in the water. I had a hard time taking photos of this coin without removing it from the 2x2, and it is quite small, like a British Maundy 2d or so. The photos are quite poor, and don't nearly show the great ammount of detail on the reverse. Anyone else collect these little silver Kreuzers? There are quite a few different varieties from different German States. I'd love to see some pics of some of you guys' examples....
Well, thank you all for the replies. I was hoping some people would post images of their German States silver 1Kreuzer coins.... it's an interesting niche in the world coin hobby..... kinda like the British Maundy coins, in fact that is what drew me to them in the first place. I always had a thing for tiny little silver coins. Also, I know that this coin I posted is of a low quality billon type silver. I was wondering if anyone knows the fineness of this coin, and the weight it should be? It may not list the fineness in anyone's reference books, but it should have the proper weight...
