Hi 50cent here I wanted do see how many people liked the new quarter?Submit your opinion on the poll.
I do like the Yellowstone but that's mainly because of the Bison, as for the other quarters not so much, and I really think that they could have done better on the Hot Springs especially.
Same here. I'm not interested in any US Mint items struck after 1964 so I don't actively collect anything after that date.
In my opinion, they are a poorly designed gimmick, attempting to suck another decade of public interest and goodwill out of an otherwise spent idea. They allow the mint to produce sets for collectors that are more expensive and have a higher profit margin. Yes, I collect them and yes, I went to the Hot Springs ceremonies. I do like that I had the opportunity to attend an event like that in my home state. However, I do not like the fact that they will have produced close to 120 different designs at the end of a 22 year run. It is historically unprecendented, I believe worldwide, for current coinage to have that many different varieties. I would far rather they produce an artistically appealing long-run coinage than marginally creative junk five times a year. I do collect them, but there really isn't much joy in it. Sorry for being such a curmudgeon, the program does have the benefit of bringing attention to otherwise ignored areas of the US. It will probably inspire many new collectors as the 50 states program did. As they say, variety is the spice of life, so I know it isn't all bad. I just wish it could be better. CCAC, are you listening?
I like it a little, however I would rather spend my time looking at an old Barber or Standing Liberty quarter.
A little and thats it. If they want to change the design try changing the obverse. Another series I won't collect...
There wasn't an option for me either........."I would have preferred that the Mint use the half dollar for the National Parks series." Not only would it have allowed for nicer designs, but it would also get more half dollars into circulation which is a problem that they don't have with the quarter. Chris
I read all the posts here and don't really disagree with anyone regardless of which side of the fence they are on. To me what I dislike the most is how they are being distributed as compared to the state quarters. I think part of this is based on our current economy, but it would help bring in more new collectors if banks could order the rolls. I also understand that ASE proof collectors are quite unhappy about the 5 ounze silvers to be made, but can't make an ASE proof.
I like this idea. I believe the half is the only one they have not done anything with in a while. They done nothing with the dime either.
I voted for a little. I like some of the designs and I'll see what I can grab of them out of circulation but I doubt I'll go to any effort to hunt down ones I don't find that way. I don't really see the program bringing in that many new collectors either.
Had to go with 'not'. I quit collecting quarters at the end of the State Quarter/US territories program so it's all pocket change now. Ditto Lincoln cents and possibly Jefferson nickels too. If they change the dimes I'm done collecting US coins.
