So i check the bag and i asked how much you want for it...and he just stared and told me $138 just to get rid of it heres what i got :

WTG!!! Great luck you had today! Have you figured out the total intrinsic value of the coins on coinflation yet?

If I tallied this up correctly from your list I think you have:

    4 x 90% silver dollars
    4 x 90% silver half dollars
    2 x 90% silver quarters
    21 x 90% silver dimes
    ______________________

    for a total of 6.42 oz silver content @ 19.83/oz. = $127.33

That price is close to your price paid.

also i got a 1944 united states of america and in the back says Filipinos not sure if it said 5 cents or something anyone knows about it? i think i even lost it already Oo it should be in the ground somewhere though. It looked somewhat like a shield nickel in the back reverse.

The 1944 is a Philippines commonwealth issue. Minted by the U.S. and if a Five Centavos, then copper-nickel-zinc alloy.

Post better pics of the large cent so someone can give you a grade and see if there are any varieties to be aware of.

Thanks i thought it had some sort of value I'll keep it either way. I will post better pictures when i find my camera i took those with the integrated cam with the laptop lol. Its a little worn from the back and front but you can still see everything though.

Worn large cents still have a value, especially if you can determine various dies varieties. Check out the ones they have on largecents.net

Got me thinkin' too Chip. Odd number indeed. Why not a "round" number like 140? Most curious indeed...

Again, going roughly by the count in the OPs list and pics, take the intrinsic value of the silver I tallied earlier $127.33, add up face value for all other: one cent, nickels and various clad coins, you get another $7.69 (approx.) = $135.02 by my calculation. Methinks the "old man" had done a little homework and just wanted to sell for close to spot and face on all other coins.

    Maybe he was a mathematician, 138 equals the sum of four consecutive primes (29 + 31 + 37 + 41)

agreed only if it was all junk silver :) Not all of the coins are junk ^^. Either way who knows. I'm happy either way =)
