A little diversion from souvenir cards for a moment...

American Bank Note Company Annual Reports [eBay auction link]

The elegant penmanship alone is a marvel to behold!

For $12,500 you get free shipping!

Anyone know how to gauge value on these? Anyone know this seller?

Anyone making an offer? Duke?... ;)

12K is a super hard quantity to place on such documents. It's too bad they are not in a museum-like collection and digitized in a database for online access/viewing.

Another heads up: There's a nice 1991 ABN Co. Archive series portfolio that's currently listed on eBay.

I have this one already and really love it. The $200 BIN + $12.50 s/h isn't a bad price (IMO). $4 eBay bucks back too.

Gonna have to look out for that one.

Whoa, how did I miss this in my eBay searches? Probably 'cause it's a little above my budget threshold. Great sigs, tho.

Some of ABNCo's contemporary annual reports are pretty cool too and usually contained intaglio vignette samples. Darryl posted a sheet from one earlier this year --

I've got a 1987 and 1990 I'd let go for a good bit less. No eBay bucks, tho. These really are beautiful portfolios.

It's all Duke's fault of course! :D He's been posting so many great cards that he sent me skimming the 'bay for more unique stuff. Of course I come back with something that costs $12,500! I do have one new SC on the way and will post soon as I get a scan. ;)

Okay, I'll post a few, then. I can't recall if these have been posted yet, but...they're still great cards. These are all BEP cards from their 1991 series. For some reason they didn't put dates on that year, go figure. What you can't see from the scans is the really nice embossed image of the Freedom statue on the top of the Capital. The frame line is gold foil. The Bureau used to put a lot more thought into the actual design of their cards, now they just pick a few intaglio plates and call it good.

These are really great examples! I have been eye-ing some from a dealer on eBay but the guy has nearly all of them listed between $9 and $15 and he has too many of them that I'd love to own so I can't make up my mind which ones to pick up.

PM him and see what he's want for the whole lot :D
You might get a real good price for them all.

I was thinking about doing something like that actually... but then I had a personal assistant helping with TT the other day and I had some other success with a HA item... so many notes and things, so little time!

And now for a thematic post…

A new Souvenir Card I picked up along with a couple of my 1970's silver art bars, all featuring the Graf Zeppelin airship.

I will keep a look out for the Century of Progress Flight SC now to accompany my themed items. Thanks for the heads up!
And I can second that the price of these cards are still in the $2-3 range.

For fun, here's a favorite from my postcard collection. Circa 1912 -- a very early Zeppelin.
