I just paid $9.95 each and bought a (Roger Clemens and Greg Maddux) .999 fine silver medallions. The dealer at the shop said they'll be in high demand in several years.Does anyone have any thoughts on what I paid? Thanks B12

IMO they are worth bullion value...now if you can find a collector of that guys item...he might be willing to pay much more...but don't count on it.
I think for what silver is right now you did alright...that is about what I have to pay for a silver round.

I'd venture to say you've bought about an ounce of silver. These medallions and other sports great gimmicks have been around for a long time and really don't generate any market. I sold two 1965 MICKEY MANTLE Gold Leaf Embossed cards for $30 each. Stick with cardboard it's worth more and costs less...

I would say if you were trying to make a little money on these wait until they retire and as soon as they do sell them on ebay. I think you will do pretty well.

I had a dealer tell me the same thing about the Nascar series of silver LE rounds so I bought several that he suggested. Needless to say a few years later I couldn't even get a bid when I tried to sell them and now they are just additions to my "challenge coin" collection.

You paid a fair price for a very high quality silver round. It will never be worth less than bullion value [plus a small premium for being in coin form] and could be worth more at some point in the future. It is unlikey that you could buy something like this on Ebay for what you paid for it. My opinion is that it is a high probability bet that silver will go up in price, perhaps by a lot. Hold onto it. Benk's suggestion might be a good one too.
