I wouldn't know where to start to look for what VAM it is...I have written John B before and asked questions but that is about as far as I got... Tonight I was looking at a 1878 (I don't remember if it was a CC or P) Morgan and the back had some die-cracks...I thought that it might be a VAM but was too lazy to get photos... Speedy
Nice coin. I picked one of them up at a coin store a couple of weeks ago for just a very small premium over a non VAM for the dare/mintmark in the grade it is in. The coin I have is probably a 62 or 63. Any idea of what its value is?
Dr. Fey (author of the Top 100 Book) publishes a value guide every quarter. The Winter 2005 guide has these values for the 1900-P VAM 11.... Grade/VAM Value/Common Value AU55 40 17 AU58 75 19 MS61 85 24 MS62 95 25 MS63 115 35 MS64 100 48 The values are based on trading history. I think that's the reason for the MS64 being less than MS63. There are also some serious collectors publishing the VAMview. It lists VAM sales as well, but goes beyond the Top 100 list. They have several 1900-P VAM 11 transactions listed, including ANACS MS62 for $46 and ANACS MS64 for $70.
