Here is an 1885 Morgan which has been graded and certified by NGC. What would you grade it and why. As you can see it's a stronger strike than the New Orleans minted Morgans.

    Take care

    Well Bone,It does have some bag marks,so I'd say MS-63 or MS-64. ;) B12

No higher than a MS63. Hair is flat over the ear. Too many minor marks and ticks to count. Maybe a 62

I'm going to go with 65 due to the strongness of the strike, and 85-o's have many weak strikes. Also going with 65, since the reverse is very clean, and there are only a couple major contact marks on the front.

How about providing more than 1 photo for each side? I suspect some of the marks I see (vertically and diagaonally on her cheek, nose and in the field in front of her forehead) are on the plastic, not the coin.

So, if some of the marks are on the plastic, I'll go MS-64. But, if they're on the coin, MS-63...

What's that on her neck? Did a "one-toothed vampire" try to bite her?

    My guess solid 62 .

Your right about the Phillies being of better strike than New Orleans, to bad this one is not an example of that.

This coin has a few problems , the number hits on the obverse is the main problem, not the least of which is on the U of Unum and the weakness on the wings on the reverse IMHO knocks this coin significantly.along with the rim damage at 5 o clock.

the overall die state of the coin is late and the strike is weak in the lettering. All combine to keep this coin in the low 60 grades,, this is of course my opinion !!

Since its a P it will have a better strike than the O IMO...MS64....NGC might have my 65...

Being a "Newbie, and learning from this site, I thought I'd play the grading game. I looked the coin over carefully and came up with MS63 to a possible MS64...which it turned out to be when I scrolled down. I'm learning. Thanks guys.

I'm not sure why I thought it was an O seeing that it isn't an O. Too tired from all the travel I suppose.
