Thought about bidding on this. Since I'm not a Liberty Seated expert, I was wondering what you guys/gals thought. http://us.ebid.net/for-sale/1839-seated-half-dime-au-details-29824852.htm
The surface sof the coin look messed up - possibly environmentally damaged and/or cleaned. Did you like the looks of it or are you just looking for a bargain? If the latter, I'd avoid it.
Coin was buried. Has some slight corrosion, but even at that, wouldn't it be a bargain? XF to AU runs $150-200.
The coin's surfaces would limit its appeal in most collector's eyes. There's a (good, IMO) reason that coin is that cheap. Not a bargain, in my eyes.
To give a little perspective to that, the last XF's sold for between $60 and $90 on Heritage - all certified. As a ground found coin, this might net out as fine. You will have to do the math because Heritage has sold none in fine, but their VF's go <$40.
has really sharp xf details but sadly it is indeed DETAILS which means the surfaces are jacked. sad really...
