We have a coin collection that is not organized and has about 80lbs of various coins including several foreign coins. We have started sorting through them, but with limited knowledge, it is a daunting task. I took a handful of coins to a local coin shop and was shocked at how rude the owner was to me. Can anyone give me suggestions on 1. how to organize these coins, and 2. how to determine what their value is, and 3. how to go about selling them and not get taken advantage of. Much appreciation.
First welcome to Cointalk. Are the coins in 2x2;s? I would get a Redbook by R.S. Yeoman if will help you with all of your U.S. coins.
A Red Book for US coins and a Standard Catalog of World Coins borrowed from the library should get you started with identification.
Ditto, can you please describe what types of US coins you have 80 pounds of and how they were organized when you got them. That will give members an idea of what to suggest. As general as your 1st post is it is really hard to give you specific advice. GL ~ Darryl
