First of happy labor day to everyone, hope the bbq's are good. I want some opinions. IF you had enough money to buy a common date $10 gold indian in AU 58 which one would you buy? I have always wanted one and think that I can get a nice AU 58 with better eye appeal than some of the MS 61 and 62's, thoughts? Surfing ebay I found these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380265707629&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT I'm worried the luster might be bad on this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/1910-10-Indian-...74?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item3f02d86732 pics are too small. I also see heritage has a bunch of them coming in the next four weeks. I will probably only ever own one so I would like a good looker. What dates would you recommend?
Oh, and are you really considering a non-slabbed coin? That's a LOT of money to take chances with. And I'm not talking grade; I'm simply talking authentication.
Especially when talking about a LOT of money, why pay 1200 for a slabbed coin, when you can get the same grade non-slabbed coin for 400? I say, if the seller got proper feedback, and there is a money back policy, there is no reason to spend so much. Often slabbed coins are offered on eBay for a ridiculously high price.
If I buy it on ebay it will be slabbed by anacs, pcgs or ngc. I'll only buy non-slabbed from a dealer that I know and can trust. I'm looking more at heritage for online auctions. I want help with what year to get, mintmark, what to look for ect.
be nce you know very well we have both done it time and again i am sure others can too with a lil bit of hardwork
No spock, we have never done that. Find a raw coin that is worth more than you paid for it - sure. But find a raw coin that is worth triple what you paid for it - never.
I can tell you what I bought. I got a 1907 (first year) certified AU58 from a top notch dealer. Grading gold is a specialty. Look at lots of coins, if at all possible. Prices (as well as quality for the same grade) can vary quite a bit, so shop around. The date doesn't sound like it is that important.
i have done it countless of times paid $5 for coins worth more than $100 paid $40 for coins worth more than $100 Paid $1250 for coins worth more than $2500 hell we even picked a slabbed coin that was worth more than three times graded correctly tsk tsk Gd you have for gotten a lot of our conversations. including the thai baht. oh well thats history maybe we can do it one more time so it becomes fresh maybe not for us coins but certainly possible for specialized coins
but unfortunately i have left a permanent impression in your heart eh? too bad that you really cant act out your emotional scenes or CT will come crashing down now a lil birdie told me that you look everyday too see if i posted anything new on CT
I have a 1910 $10 indian in ms 62 condition pcgs rated. it looks really nice and i like the look of it. It is more of a stable type of coin and it holds it's value prett well. although over the past year or so it has gone up in value. something i can pass onto my kids if they ever need it really.
Tater - I picked up a nice AU-58 $10 Indian at the Scotsman Summer Auction recently that looks MS62 to me. Here it is..... The 1910-D is a common date and if you are looking for a nice type it's a great choice.
hiho that is a great looking eagle there. That's what I'm looking for. I've been checking heritage out. I think they have a couple of them up and coming.
Better to buy something like this from Heritage or Scotsman than on eBay. Good luck, I hope you find a nice AU58 that looks MS like I did.
