as some of you may have seen under "Sunday Flea Market Pickup," Ive recently purchased a 1944 set of mint coins.....there is a coin show next Sat. I will be going to w/ about 55-75 tables @ Clarkes Summit, PA.....here are some pics of the set (excluding the nickel) and my Q to you is at what I paid for it ($37) would it be a good idea to sell it or hang on to it for 2,5,10,25 yrs?? also how mu8ch could I be expecting to get for it???thanks Dom
It isn't a U.S. mint issued holder, it's aftermarket, and the coins aren't really premium quality, common mintage, so to me, it is worth about 20 bucks or so. I think if you can get back your initial investment, you are doing good. The Half is worth a bit, but the others are pretty common in that condition. This is just my opinion. EDIT- I just saw your other post about this set, with the better pics, and I will revise my opinion. The coins are better than I surmised, and probably worth your investment, maybe a little more.
thanks....before I read the EDIT part I was saying $20 bucks??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! but whatever (looking forward to offers at the coin show {also a member on the forum } )
What you do with it is your choice, but I think its a nice set and would tend to hold on to it. But then again I have never seen a coin I didn't want to hoard!
To me it's worth holding for silver (I say stash them in your safe). The non silver I would just put in a 2x2 card.
I have no idea, really, other than my gut feeling -- as I don't follow the prices of these coins closely enough to know and I'm too lazy to do research. That said, my gut says $50.
