Does this come close as holding value. I was offered to buy this and before I do I was wondering if it's worth holding?

My guess it would be worth about 5 bucks or so. If it was related to gold or coin shipments or was someone famous then it would be more.

The seller wants $15.00 shipped. If I can get it down I probably will buy it just to have a receipt from when Wells Fargo started up.

That's cool. $15 isn't a whole lot of money for something you like.

There's a few on ebay that didn't sell at that. The ones that mention gold or bullion deliveries were priced a lot higher and sold.

I'd say to pass, since it is in a matte you dont know if it was mounted & there appears to be a tear along the right side center fold.
There will be other that come along for near teh same price but without the possible problems. But if you like I guess go for it. It is kinda cool-

This type of Exumonia is bountiful . Is it worth the asking price ? That is totaly up to you . I don't think you will find one in that condition for under $10.00 on the E.Bee gee beez auction site.

Wells Fargo started up in 1858. (See Wikipedia). In the era of your document, it was in its heyday. Later, it was seized by the government and then re-organized.

1866: 'Grand consolidation' unites Wells Fargo, Holladay, and Overland Mail stage lines under the Wells Fargo name.
1904: A.P. Giannini creates the Bank of Italy in San Francisco.

You should buy whatever makes you happy. (And I agree that our wives have different opinions on that than we do.) You know, we coin guys spend four hours in a coin store to save $5 on a coin and think we got a deal, then deride people who pay $5 more for the same item.

I buy stock certificates from a wholesaler at 100 for $55. Then, I sell them one up for a dollar to $5, with the higher prices for railroads and such. A friend of mine is a dealer. He buys them from me for a dollar, puts them in a frame and sells them for $15. And there you are.

Do you have a source of Wells Fargo receipts at 100 for $55?

So, OK, don't buy a hundred of these at $15 each because you can buy frames for less, but, goodness, man, indulge yourself. You deserve it.

If you like the history, $15 is not alot of money. LIke budgood said though, there may be better examples for the same amount of money that come alog - but there might not lol

If you want it, pick it up.
