I got this out of the ATM last week and I'm not sure what to do with it. I did a completed auction search on the bay and it looks like to me it's not worth the hassle of listing it to make a buck or two on it. I don't collect paper but I didn't want to just spend it either without posting it here to see if someone might have an interest in it. It's still fairly crisp although it has a wallet fold, two of the corners on the left side have creases and as you can see some wrinkles along the bottom edge. Opinions?

Nice find. Nice Note. I am not up to date on Star Note currency. I'm sure someone more versed in that subject will come along. It's a shame it's not full CU and those ink smudges don't help either.

i dont have my books with me to check if that star note or district had a low mintage or otherwise to give it a premium above face.

I wouldnt spend it until i knew for sure.

I keep all the star notes I find.....granted, the New York and Boston districts are the "better' ones to find, or buy, and the Dallas note you found is only worth $60 in CH-CU (book value). Unless I'm strapped for cash, I keep them.

I keep all the stars i find too lol it seems lot of folks do. It can get expensive with the higher denoms, but in tight corners, they can always be spent for the same price i bought them for :)

www.uspapermoney.info is an awsome website, and run by a very knowledgeable member here on cointalk. Always up to date, and if you ever have any questions, he is always willing to help. They may sound like a commerical lol but that site is always the first i hit with any questions i have about printings.

I agree 100% Jon. uspapermoneyinfo is my online "bible" for serial number, star notes, sheets, low print runs, and the list goes on and on. I'm there everyday, and some days, several times.

Mr fret, I'll give you .20¢ each.

Are they that common or is it just the condition?

Nothing is more common than questions about value on very low condition notes, or coins for that matter in these forums. Ask yourself, is a note worth $20 in trade for goods/services really only worth .20¢ as you were propositioned for each note? Ask yourself as a numismatic hobbyist, does the condition affect the value no matter the mintage/printage of a coin or a note? There are many resources for you to figure this out for yourself, but if you are plopping these down in a forum expecting others to do the work for you then it might cost you $19.80/$20 note in consultation fees if you cannot come to some idea about value on your own being the regular forum(s) user and hobbyist that you are. I'm sure others will be more than willing to share their assessment and value estimates with you as they come along.

The first note is the nicest of them all, but still only about XF condition, or $1 premium. Really not worth much right now. As a star note collector, I save all star notes I find and/or receive at the bank from my teller. I'm of the same vein as others in this thread who state a star note saved is still a "rarity" and collectible. As for your other notes, only face value due to their condition. I say keep them, but ultimately it's up to you.

I never expect others to do work for me! This is an open forum and I asked a question, that's the end of it.
