ok picked up a 1944-P mint set (from a guy who knows little {being nice here } about coins for $37 ...got a bunch of pics...any comments (positive or negative) welcomed and esp. price range ect. if I want to sell....also got a German 2Mark (I think ) for $3 well worn but Nazi stuff is "neat" -Dom
and the 2Mark w/extra photos of the coins .... (WOW I posted 15 pics for 5coins and 1 notes worth ...is that a record?)
Your mercury has excellant detail . All look like great picks. Edit* OK, I didn't see you bought a mint set. I still think you came out great. Nice note.
Nice set of coins...one problem, the Mint did not make Mint Sets or Proof Sets during the WWII era, 1943/44/45/46, but if you got all these for $37 bucks, you did good. In other words, this was assembled from MS coins. I now see the capitol plastics holder.
The Walking Liberty Half and Washington Quarter don't look uncirculated. WLH: middle of robe, eagle left wing Wash. Q: cheek of Washington, bottom of Washington's bust, some wear in the hair and wear on the top of the eagle's breast. The other coins may be sliders as well but it's hard to tell with photos that are out of focus and don't encompass the entire coin.
yaknow I was lookin at that walker and mabye will latter look for a grading tip online but I garuntee the Washington is Unc. hard to from pics but the cheek has only a couple minor nicks and personally think it is only weakly struck
Weakly struck parts of the coin still exhibit luster though, take a look at Washington's cheek in the first picture and you can see a graying on the high parts. I'm not an expert to ask, but that's just what I think.
hmmm.. get what your saying ...there are areas of toning on the coin (ex. just to the right of washington's mouth) buy I still think its Unc. in all honesty hard to tell not in hand, will be posting some more pics for ya
oh wow if your refering to me....its a Kodac with a bankers lamp and a 10X loupe....pretty sophisticed stufff
That is not "Nazi stuff", since Nazis have used Reichsmarks. What you have is Rentenmark, something that was in use until 1948, but first appeared way before the Nazis started taking over. It is still worth about $3.00 though.
