I have been cleaning through my garage and have come across some coins that i was curious about. I would like to sell these coins but dont want to get ripped off. Is there anybody that could help me. I have 69 coins total: 1951x3 1952x2 1954x12 1957x4 1958x2 1959x4 1960x8 1961x6 1962x18 1963x10 I have a few pictures and can take certain pictures for people to see.
even if those coins have no numistatic value, the silver content alone would garner between 5-6 bucks per coin from most dealers around here.
Did you check them for the "Bugs Bunny" variety? There could be a die clash on Franklin's mouth that looks like "buckteeth" on any of the 1951-P, 1952-P, 1953-P, 1954-P, 1954-D, 1955 or 1956. OFF TOPIC "Scroll on, o' sinking ship of state!" Chris
Nothing special about the years (not sure what are the mints marks or errors) but according to the catalog they are all in the 4$ area. If you got some in UNC condition, they should be in the 5$ area. If getting 6$ for silver content is an option, it would be a good deal IMHO.
Silver closed yesterday at $19.04 per troy ounce. Each coin has .3617 troy ounces of silver. Here a link to show how much sliver is in each coin. http://www.coinflation.com/coins/silver_coin_calculator.html From the photo it appears these coins have been circulated, I agree you would probably only receive 5 or 6 dollar each from a dealer.
At today's silver price, there is $6.89 worth of silver in each of those coins. If you sold them on ebay, you would get close to that or even a little more (or quite a bit more if lucky). You would have to pay the fees though which eats into your profit. If you sold to a collector or a dealer, I would not sell for less that $6 a coin at current prices. That would be close to "melt" value, but allow them to get them a little below. Look for the Bugs Bunny variety as described above. Or, if you want to sell to me for $2 a coin, I'm in....
I just took a bunch of silver to my local dealer, and got 12X face for the 90%ers. That's what I'd do in your case. I see you live in Hayward - I sold mine to Don's Village Coins here in San Fran. Don't know if there's a good dealer near you. Joe
$6.25 would be a good price. Cerdsalicious, I'm surprised you are offering this. Have your connections run dry? You previously stated several times how you get all kinds of junk silver for face and that you are so connected. Here is one of your quotes: "When youve been roll searching for 8 years, and your dad is a lobbyist, mom is a banker and everyone else in your family is eitheir a politician or banker, and I mean your extended family up to my third cousins. You develop connections, and you get stuff the normal public doesnt usually get....when I own two different stores, own stocks and controlling interests in several other business ventures....Not to mention how much junk silver I have that I am going to pass onto my kids. Plus all these unc bags and rolls of coins I have. I mean UNC bags of morgans. UNC rolls of wheaties, nickels, mercury dimes, washington quarters etc." With that and other posts you have made, you made it seem like your connections for junk silver at face was endless. Are you not able to get them at face anymore? What a bummer because you made it seem like you had such a nice deal...
