Excuse me, but I'm a little bit confused. You've been collecting coins for many years, but you have no idea what they're worth. I'm not trying to make fun of you, but are these coins in Mason jars?

First off, before you sell your coins, you should have an idea of what they're worth. Never blindly try to sell your coins! Get yourself a Red Book and make a list of what you have and the approximate value. Red Book is NOT an accurate price guide, but it will give you a general idea.

cpm9ball: Its quite possible to collect coins and not to know their exact value. It is usually called hoarding though.

I have been keeping different countries coins without knowing their value when i started collecting. Didn't even know there are catalogs back then.

    Taxi,

While I understand your point, it seems that this "collector" knows little or nothing about what he has, and we need more information to be able to advise him properly. Granted, I should have made my intent clearer, but at the same time, the OP should have given us more information. You know yourself that we have many people come here knowing next to nothing and they are looking for advice and expecting us to gaze into our crystal balls to give them answers.

cpm9ball: Yeah, i just realized the OP is actually asking if his coins are valuable, without even attempting to give any description or details... that's just irrational.

thatboie: Yes, some of your coins might be valuable, maybe even all of them are, and maybe none of them. Quality photos would help determining value. The best place at this point to sell them would be eBay.

Thanks for the welcomes and I appologize for the way my OP was worded, Ive been collecting coins that look valuable or have a different feel than regular coins ad i was mainly wondering
where I could find their value and after looking around here I figured this would be the best place to ask,I Have been doing so for a long time but still know very little about "collecting" coins,
I will get some pics to post on here and then if any one wants to comment feel free, I again apologize for my lack of knowledge on coins and collecting, but after trying to research a 1964 "silver" dime
I found my way to this site, so please for the time being excuse my inexperiance with this hobby :) and Ill make a list and post pics asap, Thank you all again, i look forward to posting/poking
    around this site.

My apology, Ian! This sort of thing is a common occurrence with newcomers to the hobby, and I should have been a little less facetious in my opening remark.

Ian, I would first determine what type of coins you have, as in world coins or US coins and then from there pick up a few reference books you can find at most bookstores. This will give you a better understanding as to value so you don't undersell yourself. And, if you don't feel comfortable doing that, you can always post pics of coins here for people to help you with, and even sell coin here on the "open" section.
