Here is another. I believe it is a restrike coin but is there any way to tell where it is from. Thanks again
That is a "Maria Theresa Thaler." They have been minted from 1780-2005 and they all have the 1780 date. Charlie

benki, can you give us a photo of the edge of the coin? I'd like to compare it with the arabesques on that site.
It's hard to see but it looks more like the pre 1900 Vienna arabesque to me,no lines crossing over the circle part, also the lower part of the bottom "hump" is a match...If I'm right,it would be a good thing for you.The only thing that keeps me from being sure is the "X"...looks more like the London one or possibly the post 1900 Vienna..Anyone else want to chime in?
Here's a closeup, edited for brightness and contrast. I'm leaning toward either post-1900 Vienna, or possibly Brussels. Wear on the edge makes it difficult to say for sure whether there was a visible crossover on the "X" when it was minted.
Looks to me like Vienna Pre-1900 and the Saltire looks like the 1830 version. The line through the circle on the arabesque is curved not straight like the post 1900. And the upper left to lower right arm of the saltire is curved at the top and the bottom. This is not true of the post 1900 saltires. The protubrences from the sides of that arme are much more promenent than those shown on the 1900 saltire.
I agree Condor,Benk, you seem to have a very early restrike..if we're right. The coin just didn't look like 20th century to me.
So currently they are issuing these as circulation coins? or as numismatic silver coins for collectors, like the Golden Eagle or the Maple Leaf?
