  1. I searched a few rolls of pennies yesterday, found two wheaties (1951 and 1955) and an uncirculated 1960.

I have been through 3 boxes of halves with nothing. Two boxes of Dimes with nothing. Finally today on my third box of dimes a 1944 Mercury and a 1958 Roosevelt! Hours of time and it was all worth it!!!

Gotta love it. Congrats on the Merc, some of the bigger roll searchers around here still haven't found one.

Yes, congrats on the Merc.....seems like many are finding those lately. I still have never found one.....ever.

Funny how the role searching luck changes. A couple of days ago, I lamented in this thread that I had not had one box of more than 4 silver halves in my last 30 and only 30 total in my last 30 boxes. Then yesterday I found 6 40%ers in a box. Well, I did one more box today:

    3 40%ers
    14 1964 90%ers. :D :) :D

What fun that was. I needed that. I actually had told my bank to cancel my order for a box of halves for next week because I was going to take a break. Well, I called today and renewed it. LOL.

    :D .......finally!!!!

Also, I guess this is my countdown to 1000 silver halves found since I started doing this last year. 16 more to go and I'll hit that milestone!! :)

Wow, congrats on the finds. Posts like this keep me going when I think I've cleaned it out. I hope to hit 1000 in a year, boy would that be great. I really need to start finding some to make that happen lol.

I would love to it's kinda funny cus the guy collects a few coins here and there and he must have just missed these 2 coins in the drawer. I gave the kids the coins they were rather excited

    August Totals:

    21 Silver dimes (# of Mercs ???)

    5 Silver Quarters (3 1964, 1944S, 1944 [very nice :)])

    8 Silver Halves (6 40%, 1 90%, 1 Franklin)

Overall, a weak month. However, it's due to school starting, which has cut my hunting potential to 1/7.

Put 'em on eBay, they're still fetching a premium. I'm taking 10 rolls I found and selling them to a local coin dealer on Friday.

Did you see the mintages for the 2010 nickels and dimes in the Aug 23 CoinWorld? Both are like half a billion. I have no idea why these are fetching a premium on ebay. There will be tons of them everywhere. The 2009 coins are the ones with the (relatively) low mintages....

    Found a 1936 Cent in XF. :D

I know, bob... that's why I'm trying to dump them ASAP. If they don't take 'em, I'll probably buy some more 2x2's and pay with 'em, haha. :D

I think you'll see the 2009's suffer from the same thing as the 1950 D nickel... known scarcity out the gate leads to mass preservation, which leads to it being "rare" but common.
