I was going through some old family stuff and found a bunch of old coins and was wondering if there was any silver in them.I looked on the internet and can't find much on content. the coins are one dated 1949 i believe its mexican the obverse has a mans head and the wording is francisco franco caudillo de espana por la g.de dios, the back has a crest with cinco pesetas around it,another one is from hong kong one dollar dated 1960,two others are from the phillipines, they both are dated 1964 one is a tewnty five centavos and the other is a ten centavos, any help is greatly appreciated.thanks in advance.
First coin sounds Spanish, not Mexican. The words "de espana" should have given you a hint. It sounds like a nickel KM# 778 and is worth 10$ in XF. Second sounds like Km# 31.1 copper nickel 1 Hong Kong dollar, 1.75$ in XF. Other two from Philippines are copper zinc, both are worth 0.20$ in XF. For more information or details show photos of the actual coins.
First one is five pesetas from Spain: Obverse : Bare Head, facing right; "FRANCISCO FRANCO CAUDILLO DE ESPAÑA POR LA G. DE DIOS"; 1949 below, between dots. Reverse : Crowned shield with eagle; CINCO between stars (19 inside below and 51 inside above) at left and PESETAS at right.
