I found this 1998 Wide AM in a roll a couple of days ago. Corrosion would have been a problem, but THIS corrosion make my collectible coin worth, oh, let's say about 1 cent. The good news is that it cost me a cent!
In person, it shows up well. The gap is actually very pronounced. I know that there can be die erosion that is confusing, but this would be remarkable if that is the case. It is as wide as the 2000 Wide AMs that I have found and sold. Tomorrow I will dig up a microscope and look at 50X and see if the corrosion ate away the area in question. Mike
One of the diagnostics for the 1998 Wide AM is the initials on the back. Is the "G" close to the Memorial or far from the Memorial. You can compare it to other 1998's. http://www.lincolncentresource.com/wideams.html
