This is actually one of the smaller sizes. Check out the price. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230514027841&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D230514027841%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1 This is an image someone posted a while back.
Very interesting! The eBay seller suggests that it may be bronze or brass, but from looking at the back, it is my guess that it is copper-plated lead. It would seem appropriate to use copper. Littleton didn't say what they paid for their plaque, but I'd bet the seller might be in for a pleasant surprise. Thanks for sharing this. Chris
In the last few seconds, I would suspect a bunch of sniping tools will activate. To quote the Antiques Roadshow, "Stuff like this does not come up very often and when it does, it generates a lot of interest."
nice item There was a dealer at the ANA Boston show that was selling items like this. I don't remember the dealer's name but he was located directly on the back wall in the main room at about aisle 800 I think.
The price is what got me. I quit at $130 because it was one of the smaller ones. Don't guess I'll be winning this one.
The auction ended at $1475. I didn't wish to say much until it ended but I'm not sure it's even real. Something about it just seems funny to me. I don't know what but I just have that feeling. For those that care for this type of stuff, I'll post an image of the larger size when I get the time to take good images. This is the baby size. It has a real cent in it instead of a plaque like the larger ones use.
