My daughter got a 1906 O Barber Quarter from in her change from a snack vending machine. I'm not a collector, so I was wondering if I could get opinions as to the grade from people who are. Below is a scan of the coin: Thanks.
20 seems about right, maybe vf-25, according to the redbook, 2.056 millions of those quarters were minted. According to Numismatic News, the retail price for those is 60 dollars, usually a dealer will give you about 20 percent off of retail, (48$) It is a nice coin, most of the ones out there are vg or worse. Oh, and welcome to coin talk
I hate to correct you chip, but the dealer bid on that coin is closer to $45 and most won't offer bid. They will offer probably somewhere in the $35 range. I just didn't want them to think that someone offering $30 or so was ripping them off. Awesome find!
Wow, to find a coin in your change which was minted in New Orleans is a major score!!!! Especially a Barber in such nice condition!! WOW!!!
Thanks all. I appreciate the info. My daughter will be happy to hear the good news about the bum quarter she got from the vending machine (she tried to use it again in the same machine, but it wouldn't take it after multiple tries).
Where exactly is this snack vending machine? Looks like someone's collection was raided. VF-25 is my guess. Great find! TC
"bum quarter", that's funny. It's just a good thing the machine didn't take the quarter. That thing is in great condition for being in circulation. Congrats on the find.
And to think that I get excited about a wheat penny in my change... Nice find. Now I'm going to find a snack machine.
Yeah, that quarter is an easy VF-20 in my book and may be close to a 25 but I wouldn't push it. Still a nice quarter like that in circulation, wow, what're the odds.
