    Hey guys,

Here's an interesting coin. From the Middle Ages comes a Venetian tradition in which the wealthy Ladies of Leisure sewed small gold coins into their scarves. Those coins were zecchino - from which we get the word sequin.

Anyone care to attribute or comment on this coin ?

    All the best,

    Ricky B

Can't attribute it right now, but when I get home I'll be glad to. Weight for all Venetian ducats, any ducat for that matter, is 3.5gm.

It's about the diameter of a nickel, but much thinner. About the thickness of a sequin. :D

Well at any weight or size it's beautiful. I wasn't too clear on middle ages denominations. Very interesting.

It is a ducat of Alvise Mocenigo II, 1700-1709.
