Its Roman, looks like a denarius of Caracalla, with ANTONINVS PIVS AVG and the inscription. similar to this one Caracalla Denarius. 203 AD. Yep I would agree. Caracalla Denarius, Virtus reverse. Looks like one struck with a portrait of a young Caracalla, before he was sole Emperor. Interesting holder.

The main attribute of Virtus was courage, and the two G's of AVGG means Augustus plural. So the reverse reads "Virtus Duorum Augustorum" or "Courage of the Two Augusti." This refers to Caracalla and his father, Septimius Severus, who were joint emperors at the time.
