I bought myself a new toy at the ANA show, a USB microscope, that I have been trying to get used to. Here's my latest attempts 1956d-1mm-001 1960D-1MM-013 53D-1MM-006 53D-1MM-001 58D-1MM-039 Richard
Nice work! What is the magnification of these photos and what is the maximum magnification of your microscope? Chris
Pretty good resolution. How much of the coin's surface are you able to capture with clarity with your new USB microscope ?
Here's a quick image of an entire cent. I need to work on lighting and make a secure stand so that I can focus better but this gives an idea of the capabilities. This was also on fairly low resolution because my computer is a little slow on the higher resolutions
Thanks for the info, glad to see that it can capture an entire coin surface. When I clicked on the imaged a few times in an attempt to enlarge it to it's full size, it did not get very big. Is this because you reduced the resolution so that you could upload it here on CT or is that the native resolution of the scope on your particular computer. I know from experience that the graphics capabilities of a particular computer will dictate what the attached USB photographic device can achieve. Keep working on your lighting and focus and keep posting examples because I am interested in finding a good USB microscope for under $200.00 that won't limit me to capturing on a small portion of a coin's surface.
That's really neat ! Does it show up right on you monitor ? Does it have the built in image capture ? Lastly, what model is it ? I need something soon. My visit to the opthologist yesterday was not as well as hoped.
Awesome finds! Those USB microscopes are so much fun! Mine only goes 35x (zOrb M480) and I've found that inhibiting when trying to identify some RPMs - in retrospect, I would have gladly paid the extra $50 for that kind of magnification. Keep us posted!
Here is the one I bought but it was a show special at $100 http://www.lindner-usa.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5_579_2644&products_id=4734
