What do you think the grade is??? Also, if anyone has a Grey Sheet, what is the asking price?
    Thanks a ton,

IF it's real I'd say VF-20. The mint-mark looks a bit sketchy to me...

Well, for one thing I will get a weight on it.
When I looked at it the Mint Mark looked worn.
    Thanks,

I would go VF...looks like it might have been cleaned...
Make sure you get the weight...something looks wrong but I can't put my finger on it.

I'd be careful buying it - take a look at the word TRUST.

Why does the motto say YRUST?

Oops, I was beaten to it. By a long period of time at that. Sorry.

My father was telling me about a guy who tried to sell him about 100 trade dollars, that the guy paid almost real prices for, but the coins were fake. I feel sorry for that guy. Does anyone know why trade dollars are so heavily counterfeited? It seems to me that they are far more often counterfeited than other coins.

When I looked at the motto with my loop, the T looked normal. It must be the camera?
Well, anyway I will get a Weight tomorrow and post it.
    Thanks,

That is a really weird camera effect!

The greysheet has it at $85-$95 in fine, $105-$115 in very fine and $120-$135 in extra fine.

    I got the weight today!

    Coin/2x2 = 28.1 Grams
    2x2 = .4 Grams

    Trade Dollars in China

These coins were used all over the globe in the 1800s. There are many surfacing in China and the Philippines that are blatant fakes. This makes them difficult to collect with great confidence.

Personally the only Trade Dollars I have are covered with chop marks. I collected not for the type, but for the chop marks themselves.

A little to large of number...are you sure the 2x2 only weighed .4 and not something like .8??

The person said the 2x2 weighed about .4?
So, if it weighs that close to the exact weight, is that a better chance it's real?

The correct weight is 27.22 grams. The mint did have tolerance levels they would allow - but not half a gram. What about that Y that is supposed to be a T - did ya check it again ?

I looked at again and it looks like a normal "T".
It is the camera I'm using... I guess another thing to do would be to weigh it without the 2x2?
