I found one too but it seems like most guys on here dnt know much about this area. I found a lincoln too that looked some what like yours. Good luck thou!!!
Here's the page from lincoln cent resource. You have the coin in hand so it will be easier for you to compare. http://www.lincolncentresource.com/Featured/1988RDV6.html
No, that is Reverse deign #5, which appeared on the 1986-88 P,D, and proof. The reverse design #6 for 1989-92 P,D, proof and 1994-2008 Proof, it is distinguishable by a horizontal bar on the right vertical of the "G". What is the year of the coin in post #1? Jim
I think the photos when magnified to their largest shows rev #5 very clearly. The only hazy part might be if someone confused the stain at the bottom of the "G" for serif.
Well I posted some pics in my thread about " error searchers- post your results". And I believe mine look like #5.. But who knows. I sent some pics to Ken Potter.
That was a 1989 coin. It is the first one I didn't see the serif on. I see coin crazy has some also. The g is thin and doesn't have vertical nor horizontal lines in it. I didn't mean to start a stir tho.
you know what if I would've asked if this was a 1988 rdv-006 you would say NO WAY, and since it is actually a 1989 it is leaning too far to the right. But it has no serif nor does it have the thickness of a regular 89, so I am like it would be a no for both either way. It isn't either.
It looks like it may be a polished die 006 making it appear to be a 005. The way the vertical bar comes out so far suggests this possibility.
It is this way even with most photos of such. It is possible that the serif on the bottom of the "G" and the horizontal cross member is reduced due to filling of the die ( it is a very small area), in which case it might be a#6 masquerading as a #5, or a play on lighting. Photos can only produce opinions. I guess multiple photos like the one above with light form different angles might be instructive.
