I just purchased this coin on ebay for about 95 dollars. The seller had a bunch of morgans listed, and this is the only one that he listed as DMPL, and that looks like it has a shot, so I am to believe that this was not camera magic. I think I at least got my money's worth. The person claims it has a shot at 65, but I was thinking it will probably grade a 63-64 at highest, since it seems everyone on ebay grades too high. What are your opinions on the grade? Thanks again for your constant feedback! BTW if I did get a good deal, it is probably because I sniped the auction at about midnight when it ended. Great way to get good coins. Here is a link to the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8362064419&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWN:IT&rd=1
Hi Zaneman First let me bash the pics, They are as bad as Ive seen in awhile !! as for the coin, without it in hand I cant judge the deepness of the mirrors, but the coin looks like its a cinch for a PL ,,you will know about the DMPL when you get the coin in hand,, I think from what I can tell your just about right at 63 or 64 for a grade. Just keep in mind that you paid redbook 64 for the coin ,, PL-63 eqivalent IMHO. Rick
I thought his obverse picture that was on top of the grey sheet seemed okay, but his other pictures were a little shaky. I'll definitely be posting new pictures as soon as I receive it.
I think the seller was trying to focus on the text reflected on the coin rather than the coin itself - that makes the coin's features a bit blurry. But the text is crystal clear. Only question is - how far away is it ? If it's 2 - 3 inches - then it's PL. 4 inches or more - DMPL. I'd say ya done good Almost forgot - 63.
Even if it only is a PL, I think I will still be happy, as it will have nicer surfaces than any of the morgans I currently own. I bought one, and now they are the only things I really want to collect.
