I've been thinking of joining the ANA which I will do within the next 6 months because here in Sacramento my coin club will be hosting the next National Money Show or one of them. I was wondering how long collectors on this forum collected coins before joining the ANA. I know there's not a prerequisite involved, like "you need to collect for at least 90 days" before you joining but I'm just wondering. So how long did you collect coins before you joined the ANA?
A while before, I joined maybe 2 weeks ago. I've been thinking about it for quite some time and this is the last year I could join as a YN so I figured why not. Now I'm wondering if I'm supposed to get something in the mail...
Never a real big fan of their magizine; however, the benifits far outwiegh the cost involved. I collected for around 3 years prior to joining as a YN.
Maybe I should rejoin. I was a member about 20 years ago but got involved with other things in my life and coin collecting kind of took a back seat. Maybe it's time to rejoin.
I joined in Jan. 2010 when Teletrade offered a free ANA membership. I got a free Associate membership which allowed me to join NGC and submit coins directly to them. I got back into coin collecting about 5 years ago. I'll probably renew my membership when it comes up. Bruce
I collected coins for 22 years before I joined ANA. I have been a Life Member of ANA now for 24 years. Thanks mostly to ANA I have learned more about coins over the last 10 years than I did the previous 36 years.
Alrighty then! I'll join quicker rather than slower! There's gonna be an ANA presence in Sac next year and I want to be ready! http://www.money.org/AM/Template.cfm?Section=Home&CONTENTID=7506&TEMPLATE=/CM/ContentDisplay.cfm
Fret, If you like you can put me down as your sponsor when you join ANA. I don't get anything for it other than letting them know I am out here promoting ANA. Shoot me a PM and I'll give you the pertinant info.
I joined ANA first. I learned about CoinTalk from joining ANA. There was a link or reference on the ANA website. I have a hard time accessing magazines via internet - so I miss a lot. I would rather hold a magazine than press a button or arrow to turn a page. Old school-old age or some combination. What is important is to be nice to those old coins - and those old coin collectors too!. Regarding the last question posted by Fretboard....I started collecting coins about twenty years before computers came out.
