Hi, First let me say sorry for all the questions I ask. It probably averages multiple ones a day. I just got this morgan today, and I was wondering what grade you would give it. Thanks!
Please note that the weird toning on the back isn't actually there, I brought the coin out of the cold mailbox, and then it got condensation on it.
I think the picture shows all the marks well. The fields are really clear, and there is a gash on the eagles breast and morgan's cheek.
Nice photos Zane or scans..... Don't worry about asking too many questions....that is why we are here! MS64....I don't think it would get MS65 because of the mess-up luster on the face!! Speedy
Do you mean right in front of the face, and right behind the cap? If so that is condensation too. The coin was in about 10 degree temperatures, and then brought inside and scanned right away. That weird color is now gone.
I'm with the gang on this one in guessing about a 64, pretty decent strike as well...however (and this MAY be a function of my monitor or the scanning resolution) the overall look to it whispers to me that it may have been recently dipped. It looks a bit grainy, the luster is kinda off...almost TOO clean if ya know what I mean.
I mean on the cheek... Scans are good for detail....but not good in another way...they wash out the luster. Speedy
good sharp strike, sold hairlines, a few scratches, what the heck i'll give it a ms-65. It's definately 64.
Well, I got this one for 11 dollars, so I think I did alright regardless. I've been getting some pretty good deals lately : )
Wow, where do you shop? Most dealers in my area want at least $12 for a 1921 and they're worn smooth!
I got it from my father's friend. I'm 99% sure he gave me a discount, since my dad does tons of business with him. The flip it was in said 45 : )
Wow Zaneman, you're very lucky to have someone like that around....it must be a great source of information and education. You have to take advantage of that so close to home no?
My Parents live about 3 hours away, but I visit them quite often. My dad has a lot of really knowledgeable friends, and I have lately been learning a lot from them.
good friends are fun to have. me and my best friend just do stupid stuff all day. such as - Start a fire with a magnifying glass, make potato guns, melt cents.. yeah.
How do you melt cents? That would require a lot of heat. I guess if you used a fire it would work. If you have some easy way to melt them, I'd love to know it
