Ink Error or Spender?

    Found this at work last week, I thought it might be some form of ink error.

    What do you guys think? Thanks in advance

    Spender, ink errors aren't worth that much unless they are dramatic and verifiable... They are easy to fake...

    looks like something on the surface from circulation. post printing damage, no error. spender.

    That's the direction I was leaning also, although I didn't want to. Real ink doesn't look like that does it? Also it seems that the area where it is should be worn like the rest of the note.

    Thanks for the replies, now I have an excuse to replace it with something. lol

    It's really hard to tell from your images but it just looks like gunk on the surface of the note. Perhaps the splotch over the portrait was once folded and connected by some mass (like a hunk of gum or tar) to the splotch over the SN.

    Sorry, but doesn't have the appearance of an ink smear. Even if it was (and I doubt it), it wouldn't have any real additional value due to the condition of the bill. I'd spend it.
