In your experiance, which rolls are best to search for silver? Worst? I'm headed to Hartford tomorrow to pick up some rolls and wanted some thoughts on what I should get. Edit: Also, what is the best roll to search for old coins (i.e.-Buffalo Nickels and IHC's)?
I've had the best luck searching rolls of half dollars. I also once find a wartime nickel in a roll of nickels. Otherwise, dimes and quarters yield no silver. Good luck!
I have only searched pennies, quarters, and halves so far. Didn't find any silver in the quarters or the pennies-duh, but I did find a 40% in each of the boxes of halves I did. I don't think I would ever search boxes if I was only looking for silver, you would have to be very lucky for it to be worth while. I did it because I was looking for coins for a circulated set and because it is fun. It is like playing the lottery without a chance to lose (btw, I don't play the lottery).
Worst? Cent rolls. Best? my guess would be dimes. I have more silver dimes from circulation than quarters and halves.
I have not found Silver since I started searching months ago. I need to break the monotony as I get tired of looking at one denomonation too long. So it's halves to cents to dimes (waste of time) to nickles and so forth.
I did find a silver half today at work while i was checking. my other half that i have, i got from the bank.
Dimes have been rocking for me lately. Starting to die down a bit, though, might have to make the switch back to halves.
Halves have been the best for me, but I'm switching to dimes based on some finds others are having. if you're refering to Hartford, CT, good luck. I'm up that way and things up here are pretty much picked over...
