ANACS Submission Question

I was wondering if perhaps they couldn't verify the attribute ? Then would they withhold the numeric grade ? Maybe they needed a CONECA attribution before certification ?

Please keep me posted, I need to learn al;l I can about this.

From your photos I see little lines indicating previously polished or cleaned.
Hence they bagged it in a details only holder

 

A couple of us have tried to tell you that "MS-Details" means that it is a problem coin that will not grade normally, but you are ignoring us. So, when you get the coin back, if it has no numeric grade, you won't need to post another thread or a follow-up to this one complaining that ANACS messed up. They didn't!

You must be delusional- I never complained-I was merely asking if it was normal for them to leave the numerical portion of the grade out when notifying you it's on the way.
You obviously have an issue with my thread or me. I understand perfectly the concept of " Details". My only question was about the numerical part.
It's schedule for delivery tomorrow from FedEx.

You need to take a course in reading comprehension. Please tell me where I said that you have already complained in your previous posts. If you understand the concept of a "Details" grade, then you should know that the coin in question does not receive a numeric equivalent!

If was submitted under 10 for $10.00??? they will let you send it back and charge you a $10.00 fee.
I did this with this 1964

 

I submitted a rare 1880 Trade Dollar directly to J.P. Martin (the chief grader for ANACS) at the March ANA show. J.P. Martin and I both thought it was lightly circulated and would grade Proof 55...impaired but still valuable. My email from ANACS said it was graded Proof 60...the lowest grade of Proof but still not considered an CIRCULATED Proof. When I got the coin, it was actually graded Proof 60 CLEANED. Very difficult to sell with that word on the slab.

 

Frank I send back with cracked out and get the right grade!

Thanks for sharing, I was curious what problem it has. It was cleaned as someone else guessed. Did you say you got it from an uncirc bank roll or something? Live and learn. Fortunately, there is a learning curve with submitting coins to TPG's.

 

Yes, I found it over a year ago in bank rolls. it was real copper-ish colored when I found it and it turned that reddish color since then.
Maybe from oxidation. I didn't clean it. I knew better with this one. I clean them sometimes if I had multiples of commons just to experiment
with stuff but this one I left alone and it still came back cleaned. Live and Learn is right.
At least I have a DDO.. Maybe in 100 years it'll be worth something.

 

OK, I am nervous-antsy. Are you guys saying I might not get the right attribution and grade on someting I am sending in ?

 

It doesn't matter if a coin is MS67 or XF45. If it has been cleaned, it is not good.

I just checked the post from when I found it June 22nd of 2009.. Seems some didn't believe me it was a 1971 DDO found in bank rolls.

Wish I would have had a USB microscope back then .. I could have verified I didn't clean it.

So even if it didn't come back " Cleaned" it would still only be MS 60?

So this coin is dated 1971 - you found it in 2009 - so for 37-38 years you never saw this coin and don't know WHERE it was or WHAT happened to it. Chances are that it HAS been cleaned....just not in the last year. I believe that you didn't clean it...no need to have to have that verfied....but I also believe that you need to do some reading and learning on how to detect cleaned coins.

ANACS is the only company that gives numerical gradings to cleaned coins. The other companies say "Unc Details" Which I think is better and cuts down on the confusion that we are experiencing here. Cleaned coins shouldn't get numerical grades. The coin has uncirculated details... but it has been cleaned. MS60 Details is a roundabout way to say "Unc Details" There is really no way to tell what it used to be before someone cleaned it so any speculation besides "Unc Details" IMO is incorrect.

Here is a 1971 I found in a bank roll yesterday- I placed it on top of the Graded '71 for a comparison. There is not alot of difference.

I've even found them in better condition then these .. I'm still stumped on how they determined it was cleaned.

Don't get me wrong, I am NOT COMPLAINING..LOL Just Stumped.

 

In this picture you can see the small fine scratches. This is the indication of the cleaning that I can see.
