The Perth Mint makes their money by selling gold. They have no incentive to keep a stockpile that would make them the largest gold holder in the world.

    Businesses minimize inventory.

Yes, I've heard the stories of this.

"The gold you see in the vault of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York attracts more than 25,000 visitors a year. It is the world’s largest accumulation of gold and belongs to 36 foreign governments, central banks and official international organizations."

True, but I believe the vault at Ft Knox is only US gold holdings and has not been added to in many decades. The tungsten bars I believe were made in the 1980's, that is where they track them back to. It is unknown who gold plated them, and how they got into gold reserves, but I doubt they are in Ft Knox. Any other holding could be suspect though.

Doesn't really matter, since the country at any time could seize all gold like it did in 1933, right? :( Effectively the US gold holdings is the sum of all gold physically in the US right now.

No that's not right. This topic comes up all the time and can be looked up in the search to find responses. "ALL" gold was NOT seized in 1933 or thereafter, in fact it was quite clear about what could be and that which may be excluded, apart from what was never disclosed in private possession despite Executive order.

I know that Krispy, but in other countries ALL gold has been seized before. That is what I was referring to, not just what was seized in 1933. I never did understand the legal rationale for, anyway. Seems pretty unconstitutional.

Anyway, I know jewelry, numismatic items, etc were not seized, but they could have been.

Honestly how do you account for ALL gold being confiscated anywhere? It can't be. Even 2000 year old hordes hidden away are still being uncovered. There was just this thread in which the OP tells the story of this gold coin being kept in hiding for over 50 years of repressive govt rule.
