Hello Everyone. ANACS received my 1971 -DDO on Monday. Today I received an e-mail from them stating it is graded and has been sent FedEx back to me. My question is this; In their e-mail it has a row of boxes where they tell you what it graded at. Mine graded DDO FS-101 Die 1 and under Superlative there is the initials " BR", but in the box designated for the MS grade all it has is "MS-Details", there is no grade number. Is this common practice to not reveal the grade number in e-mail? Man they have me chompin at the bit!
Thanks for the link, I am hoping the word " Details" after the MS in the e-mail has to do with it being a DDO and doesn't mean it's a dud. FAQ's has BRN down for Brown , my e-mail reads BR. Hope it means Brown and Red.
The "old" ANACS used "DETAILS" when the coin would not grade, and that is probably what has happened to yours. Chris
So, you have received e-mails from ANACS regarding your submissions when they sent them back to you? And in those e-mails it specifically stated MS-60-something. They have always told you the Grade Number in their e-mails?
It's still a mint state coin, but there's a detail (or two) that keeps it from getting the numeric grade. I can't tell from those pics what they would be though.
and as far as i know, when they use 'details', it could have a scratch, a rim ding, corrosion, nicks, or even cleaned. In any of these cases, the specific problem will also be noted on the slab. You can email Paul at ANACS customer service to get more details on the details - he usually gets back to me quickly. please update us with the verdict.
Yea, I'm thinking BR is for Brown too. What has me puzzled is why would they send me the designations for the DIE Variety and the Superlative Designation if it were body-bagged. I think someone's yanking my chain here.
A "Details" grade means the coin has not been slabbed as a regular coin. The coin has been slabbed as a problem coin. It's genuine and the DDO you believe it is and has been labeled on the slab as such. It has either been cleaned, scratched, or it has some other form of damage that they should label on the holder when you get it. BR does stand for Brown...
Well, it does have a scratch or two just above Liberty but I did not clean it and it came out of a bank roll I searched.
Here's an update from ANACS ... When we ship the coins out, it prompts our system to email you your grades. Our system doesn't allow for 4 letters/numbers so it is abbreviated. When you receive your coins, it will have a ll 4 (if applicable) letters/numbers on the label. Does this help?
Without knowing the exact wording of your inquiry, this doesn't help at all. It doesn't even address the question of the "MS-DETAILS" noted on the original e-mail from ANACS, so I can only conclude that you weren't specific enough in your follow-up. I'll stand by my original comment that it was slabbed as a problem coin. Chris
I asked them in my inquiry why there was no numerical designation in their e-mail .. all it read was MS and under that was the word Details. From what I gather from Kim Price's e-mail it's their system that can't shoot out the numerical designation in the e-mail.. There isn't enough room in the box for the word Details and MS+Numerical Designation must be some generic mailing sent when they resend them back to you. And, it is a problem Coin, it's a DDO-001 FS-101 Die 1 Another thing that has me puzzled is , I paid for registered mail w/insurance to send it and for them to send it back with the USPS. They sent it back FedEx which I didn't pay for with FedEx. Only USPS.
