LOL... 65 all the way, I've seen alot of graded 66's that aren't as nice.

So have I. This one was in his wall case with other pre-1960 Washingtons, and it stuck out like a sore thumb compared to the other quarters. When I pulled it out and looked through the loupe, I couldn't get over how well it looked and was definitely hight than the 63 grade he put on it.

When I started with this series I'd only choose coins that jumped out at me the
way you described. It was nice, because at first, I needed all the dates. When I had a higher percentage of the series filled it started getting tougher (and more costly) to find certain dates that jumped out like that. It continues to be a challenge... but it is an enjoyable one.

The funny thing is, I was never planning on going back pre-60 for Washingtons. I picked up some great deals on proofs 1960-64; 68-09, and the 65-67 SMS Washingtons. But now that I have this 47-s, I'm rethinking that, all at the same time starting to put together a MS-63 Franklin set.

  8. I like it and think you got a decent deal for a low mintage issue. Enjoy! TC
