I find it hilarious that I picked Doug without peeking at the results and he is tied for 1st place with the choice of everyone else combined tied. Doug is the Greatest!!!
While not my poll(and I have no problem with it) I think my list would be completely for different reasons. There are so many that make this forum what it is that I don't think I could include them all in a poll. And evelor joined after bonedigger departed or there might be another on the list. I think I will just skip voting and say thanks to all the moderators and all the contributors on the forum.
Well, I almost didn't vote in this poll because many here have taught me a lot and I hope that someone out there has learned something from me...but I decided to vote for RickieB because he helped me discover paper currency collecting and I don't think I ever would have become interested in it without him. So thanks Rickie!
Personally, I've learned a little something from every person on the list except for "Other". I haven't met him yet. Chris
Other is one of those guys who doesn't say much, but when he does it's to be taken seriously. There are many who post here as other. People who just answer questions as they can, but don't post on every topic. Many of the best teachers on CT never get noticed, let alone recognized as such.
Jello: Is DQB a member of CT? I wonder why Doug doesn't shut this thread down since he shut down the following one the OP opened as an offshoot of this one???
im sure it has nothing to do with him having the most votes. last time i try to do anything for the "community." ill just get myself something nice with that $75 instead
next time you try to do something for the community try doing something that will enhance the entire community rather than a very small sliver of it. If you want to thank people, then thank people. There have been a huge variety of potential acknowledgements available to posters here to praise people that they think have been very helpful. So far not enough people have used them to trigger awards and that in itself is a topic of debate here on occasion. Personally, I think that just the simple act of posting a thank you is sufficient. I agree with krispy, if you want to praise people, then praise them and leave the contest behind. You've been here a total of 4 months. You haven't scratched the surface of what's been posted here, what lurks in the archives, who posts here and what a depth of knowledge there is to be found on CT. Be patient and participate. Get to know people first. Contribute. Become a great teacher yourself. Your list is incomplete to most and insulting to many. It doesn't surprise me that it wasn't received well. Let this experience be a teacher to you and then rank it for yourself among the list. If you think about it enough, you may also choose "other".
Easy, because this one is not trying to get people to donate money and it violates no rule that I am aware of. Personally -I don't care for this type of thread. And there has never been a single prize or award or anything else that I was willing to accept -nor will there ever be. I'm not here to win anything and there is no member who cares less about their popularity than I do. As I have said many times in the past - I am here for two reasons. 1 - for fun. And 2 to help people. That's it, period, end of story.
