i just got back from the store, and in my change i received a new sac dollar. my change was supposed to be 36¢. when the cashier handed me my change, i paused for a second to look at it, and was about to tell him that it was a dollar, when he said, "it's one of the new quarters." lol. thanks for the "quarter!" :D

I guess that's why the coin says, "$1".

    And you kept it?

Yeah, what difference does it make. The storeowner will probably just take it out of her pay, and the single mom will have to make her baby wear a dirty disposable diaper one extra day. No big deal!

i was going to tell him his error, but he spoke first and said it was a quarter. so, yes, i kept it. besides, it was a big chain store, not some mom & pop store.

If she doesn't get fired. LOL

I love hearing about someone getting a great deal, but not someone being taken. Well okay, since it was a big corp, I'll give you a kudos on that one.

The problem I have is that you knew it was wrong, and you didn't attempt to correct it.

Note to self: Don't ever go out drinking with this guy.

Oh that makes all the difference then. The large chain stores can afford losing a dollar in this manner than a small mom & pop store.

You too have, lost a couple of knotches on the credibility scale.

And he's probabley the type that wonders why today's younger generation has no respect for anyone.

If 1 million people did that each day, that would cost the "corporation", $750,000.00

I would have told the teller...

did he accept it from a previous customer as a dollar? or did he accept it as a quarter from the previous customer? i'm assuming since it was in the quarter till, and he said it was a quarter, that it was accepted as a quarter in a previous transaction. his drawer should be even at the end of the night.

What does it matter how it was accepted before he gave it you for change?

It doesn't change the fact that you knew it was a dollar coin, and should have said something regardless of his comment.

The fact you said you were going to tell him doesn't cut it. You walked out of the store with $.75 more than you should have. It's still theft.

And if that's not enough, swish sees nothing wrong with what he did.

You guys are betting a dead horse here. The dude knows (or now knows) that what he did was not a smart move. Hopefully he will learn from this listen and move on. Please drop it.

So how exactly is this all that much different then cherrypicking a valuable coin from a dealer? In both cases the person on the other end of the transaction should have known better but made an error in your favor.
