I began collecting these Trade Cards a few months ago. Each card represents a different country and their paper money from the late 1800"s. The cards were produced by "BOGNARD PARIS". I would have to guess that they are from the 1880's to the early 1900's.

I have two versions of the Canadian card. One is plain and the other has the name of business that gave away these cards as advertisements. The smaller ones measure 3" x 2" and the larger ones are 3 1/2" x 2 1/4".

Pricewise they run anywhere from $3 - $30. Of course the U.S. cards are the highest priced ones.

These have representations of paper money. I have also seen them with images of coins.

These, I found on ebay. For a while there were quite a few posted, now they're non-existent. I missed out on a few - United States, Greece, Italy and France. I never expected them to go as high as they did and I wasn't watching the auctions, so I was out-bid.

Those are nice, have you seen them anywhere else besides ebay? I wonder what the resell value would be.

After whining about not being able to win the U.S. trade card, I wound up winning one today as the only bidder! This one cost me $9 including shipping. I can't wait for it to arrive! This is the seller's pic:

Nice score. It's even got a reproduction of the $1 Series 1874 to 1917 Legal Tender Note on it! And maybe that's an Abe Lincoln spoof postage stamp too.

That dude in the pinstripe suit is a laugh!
