...or is it happening to everybody? For the past few days, when I'm bidding on ebay, the seconds don't click down to zero like they used to. I click back and forth to see what's happening. I've lost a couple auctions because of this.
So long as you are having none of your moral dilemmas with this, esnipe.com (amongst others) can alleviate your distress as well as the time you are spending watching the eBay clock tick away.
I use GAVELSNIPE which is very user friendly for both Heritage and E-Bay auctions. Add the auction, enter your maximum bid, and wait for the text message to hit your phone to tell you that you won or lost. It is great.
nominal, and I mean NOMINAL, fee for esnipe. just go to the site and read the details of how it works. very simple to use, esnipe even has a widget that pops up on eBay to set a snipe while you are on the eBay item page without having to go onto the esnipe page.
I noticed that too!! You have to keep switching back and forth to see how close it is getting to the end. Also when you go back you can no longer go back to the list of items where you left off.
best way to do it is bid very early on.......dont bid to win just bid the minimum.........then in the waning seconds use one click bid which counts the seconds down for ya i would recommend placing a bid before 5 seconds left. of course my method will not out-do the esnipes of this world but it sure is fun
That happened to me once and I think I had to reboot my computer and that took care of it. If you're already turning your computer off, then it's something else.
It still ticks down the seconds for me... Not to stray far from the topic, but did anyone else notice this? Dimefreak quoted Evolor asking why we shouldn't bid last second and Hunt1 responds by quoting Dimefreak and saying that he was just kidding. Is there a pattern here?
Do you even read the advice given to you in the threads you pose or just initiate them to solicit a band of like complaints to sulk about these things you don't seem to grasp... Most of these eBay threads you start have NOTHING to do with coins, or the 'coin' aspect is utterly irrelevant to the crux of your eBay issue. eBay has their own forums where there are scads of conversations bemoaning this and that about the eBay experience. Never makes a drop of sense why you bring eBay policy and site performance issues to a totally different forum web site and insist on posting these things in the Coin Chat forum when at best this is General Discussion worthy!
I noticed if you're not bidding the seconds count down. When you bid they stop. This wasn't like this before. I know when you sell the seconds don't count down. They never have. I've rebooted and it still does it.
...which is to say that your way is NOT actually the "best way"! Rather the best way, which keeps being offered to the OP, is to decide what the item is worth paying for and bid accordingly with a bid management tool like esnipe or GAVELSNIPE so that if something goes amok on eBay or they change some aspect about the site functionality you are not left without a bid placed at the appropriate moment-- an by extension we are not left listening to this complaining later about the failed bid attempts of the OP. With these tools you can define the moment prior to the end of the auction when the bid should be placed.
Why don't you call up eBay customer support or tech support and let us know what answer you learn about this issue. That might actually help you more than this forum will ever be able to... much like the time I hounded you to call Paypal customer support to resolve your balance withheld issue, to which you promptly found answers and a willing and assisting reception on the other end!
