Probably aint worth much, but I was stunned when I looked at the date because it looked so good I wasnt expecting such an old nickel.

Wow, that does look nice for such an old coin. Whenever I find nickels, even in the '40s, they are worn down or covered with an unknown substance lol.

Nice find. It looks like it may have been cleaned to me though, but the angel of the light on it is hard to tell for sure.

Very nice definition and coloring (toning or light, not sure).

    Thanks for posting.

I think it *might* show signs of cleaning. However, I would imagine a cleaned coin would be in someone's collection (some uneducated collector's collection), rather than in circulation. Perhaps those warning signs (hairlines) are just from the angle.

  8. Great find! I have not gotten a 39 in about a decade. It looks more like an overexposed photo then a cleaned coin...trust me, I can show you a bunch of overexposed coin photos!

Through the seventies, the 1939 was quite a common pickup in this area. We had old nickels in this area for some reason. I even remember getting buffaloes about once a month.
