I got these today at the grocery store. As soon as the teller opened the drawer I saw them. There were only 5 but all CU all from the 60's. The teller said a little old man had just spent them about 15 minutes or so before I checked out. I pushed for a few details, but all she really remembered is that he took them out of an old style long wallet from inside his jacket, and that it was STUFFED with 20s. When I asked what she meant by stuffed, she held up her finger and thumb about an inch apart. Thats a lot of old currency, I wonder if it is coming out of a safety deposit box or a safe. Its gotta be. I need to find this guy. He's got to be local. Oh, and one of them is a sweet star note from 63.
I received one PM about the last ones I came across, so I figure I'll give that person first refusal then off to the open section or the bay they may go. I'm relatively certain the wife won't let me get away with hoarding $300 in spending money just because it is "old and not wrinkled"
That's...that's quite an amazing find. Next task is to track down the "old guy" whose disbursing these.
I've got some very nice $50 bills that I have in a safe deposit box. Most of them are series 1990. I plan on using them for entertainment someday.
