Even if that is extreme MD it is a great looking specimen !
Strange I could not find a single resource with an example of a 1981-D DDO nor DDR
The date on your coin really looks like DD but the fact that the MM also appears to be doubled makes me think it might all be MD. Let's see what the expert have to say when they wake up in the morning

you can't tell me treashunt that in god we trust is md? That g looks too good to be md

 

That is the coin? I just took a pic, the coin is very nice. First I ever saw like this, might be md but it isn't shelf like and it is front and back.

 

Another oddity about this coin is the reverse also has some features that look like DD. The "ES" in the word "STATES" really looks like DD !

 

Looks like die deterioration doubling to me. JMO...
