Ok.. enough of the blonde headed bimbos passing theirselves off as "Liberty".. I suggest it's time for some backbone at the Mint.

I like this coin, the obverse looks like a flowing hair peace Liberty!! It just needs an eagle with a big shield on the reverse like the ASE has.

in reference of a lion on a coin....after seeing the lion face on the morgan, i thought it would be a good time to show my lion carving...

The 1977 dollar pattern was one of the best designs ever done. I wish that someone had stolen the coins or gave them to the Smithsonian. There were a few dozen made and they seem to have been all destroyed.

The 1977 design only existed as an artists rendition. No patterns were ever struck from that design so there were none to steal or give to the Smithsonian.

Hey...if you got something better, let's see it.

Maybe it is not what you like, but I'll put that dollar design up against the terrible obverses you see with SBA, SAC or our future presidential mug shots anyday! I am all for discussion that enbodies artistry, grace and beauty for our circulated coins...so what do YOU have?

Having actually SEEN one, I beg to demure. They also had photographs of them on a cover of COINS magazines from then.

They existed. Whether or not they still do is anyone's guess.

I would support this more than the presidents series. This type of design represents an idea not matter what your feeling about the subject not like an actual individual (president) that has human traits and a personnal history.
I think the SAC design does this as well since so little is known of the women except for the Lewis and Clark expedition.

These designs were proposed for the SAC Dollar and are exceptionally beautiful. In my opinion, much better than that monstrosity and aberration you're so fond of.

That's a nice looking coin. I like all the elements on the Obv except I would prefer a more detailed portrait. Looks like a ghost. The Rev is just a tad too busy.

There ya go...that's better than what we already have or propose. I like the obverse, but I still find the current SAC reverse acceptable.

Daniel Carr produced some beautiful images for up-coming state quarters. I thought the one for Nevada was especially nice. Too bad they weren't chosen.

According to the US Mint, patterns of this design were struck. CLICK HERE

I must say i just love the reverse of the St. Guadens double eagle, I think it should be returned to our coinage.

Interesting according to Gasparro they never did, he said that he wished that they had because he would have liked to have seen how it would have actually looked in the coined form.

There are some designs that work well on commemorative medals, but not on coins.

Don't forget that there are Native Americans depicted on coins - the medal-coins issued by some of the tribes such as the Shawnee. These are listed in Krause's 'Unusual World Coins'.
