I believe I found my first Hub Doubling. I found it on a 1939 Nickel I found in grocery store change in Texas. I can see separation marks on the two L's in Monticello. They look like cowboy boots. I can see two distinct O's in both of the O's of Monticello. I see notching in both of the E's if Five Cents. Heck I can see two E's in Five Cents. The only letters that are doubled or have spread marks are in Monticello and Five Cents on the Reverse. I cannot see it in any other letters on the coin. Here are the pics.:rollling:
Yes, on the left side at the top of the T. Look at the E's in Five Cents. Look at the N. There is separation marks in the N. Heck there are two N's in Cents. There is notching at the top of the E and the bottom and the middle. Thanks. Look at the two O's on Monticello. They are doubled.
Certainly looks like you have a 1939 DOUBLED MONTICELLO. Here is a photo of a circulated example that I have for comparison. Nice Find!
Yes, I found it in my 2008 Red Book. Didn't think to look in there yet, but that is it. Thanks. Well that makes my second "Doubled Die" error find. I also found a DDR#12 extra tree on the Minnessotta Quarter, but this nickel I found in Circulation. I found it in my grandmother's spare shopping change. It sure pays to look in those coin jars!
