Can you please do me two favors 1st When I ask you how much you want for something could you please not look me up and down and then procede to tell me that its expensive.........yea i get it Im 24 have tattoos and dont fit the stereotype but you can treat me with respect 2nd could you please sacrifice at least $13.00 and keep maybe 10 silver roosevelts in stock? If you dont fit this criteria than dont get offended!
+1 Just because I look like I was born in the weight room doesn't mean I can't collect coins or that I don't have money.
I don't wear a suit and tie. Usually blue jeans and a t-shirt. I drop an average of $300 at the shows. My regular dealer gets my business because he treats me with courtesy. In six months, he's gotten a few thousand dollars in sales from me. Three other dealers at the show who have similar stock blew it when they ignored me and went for the guy in the suit (who didn't spend a nickel but killed a couple of hours of their time).
Glad Im not the only one Went to and antique/coin show today and 3 different dealers told me that it was expensive ( one was referring to a sealed 1951 mint set. I mean its a little pricey but nothing to be saying its expensive) than at least three others told me how they just melted all of there roosevelts. I couldn't believe the one guy that had none told me he melted 6000.......thats like 8000 dollars and he couldn't keep a couple just in case? But it helps prove my case, silver roosevelts are scarce if you find nice ones there cheap as heck and you need to grab them!!!
Dimefreak I am having much the same problem I can find them in slabs but not to put in my album. I finally asked the dealer and he said it took up too much display space but if I wanted he would save a couple of hundred and call me to come get them he is expecting some this week. Ice
yea its ridiculous! but hey at least theres the interent.......nothing to speak of at the show today but I did grab this off ebay a couple minutes ago
We have a new member here at CT his user name is jeffmentor. Jeff is a great dealer of fine paper money and other numismatic products. www.treasuredstocks.com I have been working with him for well over 5 years and I can not tell you how many times I have purchased many notes from him that I had to put on lay-a-way, one was the Series 1869 $1 Rainbow that he carried for me for 150-160 days. Jeff is the kind of man that treats you with respect and dignity and is 1000% collector oriented. He has been the recipient of the PCGS Annual Award for the finest complete set of Military Payment Certificates for 3 years running. I approached him years ago when collecting coins for my son...he has 100% honest with me from the first time I ever dealt with him. You can't find a better person to deal with when it come to high graded paper money and coins. RickieB
Great to hear Im am currently dealing with 900fine who's a member here and he is an outstanding person!!! When I call to talk about my layaway our conversation always goes into something besides coins!!! I highly recommend him also!!! Which reminds me, I need to call him. LOL
not really silver dimes because every dealer has mercury dimes but roosevelts are basically seen as junk silver because there small and the design is still used today. so silver roosevelts are hard to find in some cases. The two local dealers dont melt the minstate ones because they know ill buy them, but at shows I find multiple tables without a single one
I don't meet the typical either... 15 years old... buying CC GEM Morgans... not your average 15 year old...
(Dimeguy closes eyes and raises hand as if recieving the spirit of god in a Southern revival) Preach on, Dimefreak, preach on! Dimes are underrated and I'm glad and grateful for the set I have. I can only imagine how difficult finding them slabbed could be. I wish you the best in your searches.
Same here lol I'm 15 as well. It's not just the dealers either, the bank tellers seem surprised I have over $20 to spend XD. Thanks for the answers on the silver dimes. I'll keep the ones I have then just to have a head start on my rosie collection
would you like to elaborate at how this is and attitude problem? Im simply stated the obvious, and it seems Im not alone. You have to understand that one day my collection is going to be for sale. And when it is 70% of this site will probably be dead (barring an unforeseen tragedy:bart So then who am I suppose to sell my coins to? People my age or younger right? So if these people are shunned and drop out than thats one less person. Than from a non financial stand point. Do you enjoy coins? Do you enjoy going to shows hoping to find something great? What if when you found something you really liked and than when you inquired about the price the dealer said " Oh thats expensive" than turned to help somebody that looks like he might spend money. Trust me I am not talking about all dealers......If a dealer takes offense then they are probably guilty of what the thread discusses.
See I'm kinda in the same boat, but with me I think they help me because they are afraid to let me stand at the table too long... Do like I do dont shave and wear a t-shirt that says "how about a nice cup of shut the f*** up" ..Don't sweat it too much. I have been dealing with this for years...I know I'm not a scumbag if they don't want to take the time to find that out or give me the benefit of the doubt. I'll spend my money elsewhere.
