Smee agin. I have two George VI Ship Half-pennies 1938 appears to be cupro-nickel .Looks like a matt proof?. 1947 bronze again appears to be matt proof.I cannot find reference to either of these coins.Any Ideas what their value is.The bronze has a slight thumb print on George's bonse. cheers KIP
I have a stack of those that I got from a family member when I was younger. The aparent fingerprint on the second coin will definetly degrade their value, also from what I have been able to find out, these are relitivley cheap. Sorry man.
I know the fingerprint will detract the value a bit .But these are proof coins.I doubt very much anyone has a stack of either.Espescially the cupro-nickel.It does not have a list price I think these may have been from a specially made vip set for someone.I have hundreds of normal halfpennies. thanks for reply .KIP
Only problem is that they arent in any sort of case, and its obvious that they were touched. With American Proof coins, if they appear to be circulated at all the value is less than $10 in most cases. But you never know For all I know this could be the next big find.
Both of the coins are listed in Krause, in Proof and business strikes. Value for the Proof examples is listed at $300 each. Now, why do you think they are Proof ? They don't really appear to be Proof to me based on the pics.
