I felt good today, so I peeked through a few halves. I need you guys to offer an opinion as to the grade on this one. Should I send it in, sell it or what ? lol

    Thanks;
    Gary

I'm afraid the condition wouldn't justify the expense of having it graded. It looks like it may only grade 64 at best.

Yeah, I got some really bad info. I read that it was scarce in grades 63 and above. Well, not nearly scarce enough. lol I figured it for a 63 comparing it to the PCGS on line pics, 64 tops too. Stays in the box for now I guess.

    Thanks

    but keep hunting

I have to agree.but I not sure if would grade MS-63 even the hair too flat and the rev shows wear.
it rare to find a MS-64 in mint set today. unless you find someone that has an unopened box stashed back!

You would want a 64 or higher to justify the expense of sending it in for grading and slabbing. That one doesn't make it. Still a nice find.

I don't even think 64/65 would warrant grading.

    Jello,

Those prices are still to low to justify the cost of grading. For many collectors, it wouldn't be worth it unless it was at least MS66.

Thanks guys. I will store it for now and label it as "63 ?". Who knows what will happen once the economy improves ? Thankfully, it doesn't eat. lol I may even have a couple of better ones, but I got tired looking.

I don't think it's even MS or AU. It looks like your average worn '64 half dollar.

    Totally agree with you Chris!
    PCGS Modern Slab = $14 + to/from Shipping.

To show any kind of return on your investment, you'd have to sell at a hefty markup provided you submitted the coin with a bunch of others to minimize the To/Return shipping costs. Currently, a minimum return shipment from PCGS is $16.95 plus an $8.00 PCGS Internal Handling Fee.

Grading costs for a "single" Kennedy Half Dollar = $38.95

PS - Never, ever rely upon the PCGS Price Guide for Modern Coin Sales in the REAL World. If you do, yer gonna be broke and disappointed.

WOW! TOO EXPENSIVE FOR THE COST TO SLAB A KENNEDY DOLLAR HALF or per a single coin.
Question? How much do you think this coin to slab..
    [IMG][IMG]
The first Two coins are 1964 Proof ACCENTED HAIR CAMEO and 1964 DCAMEO Proof The 3rd one is 1964 D MS++ with crescent yellow dusty gold toned and the 4th one with airtite black ring is a 1964 RAISED SUNKEN DIE CRATERS error variety on MS high Grade..
roughly apprximately how much these 4 coins gonna charge or bill after slabbing let's say the two cameo comeback with grade Proof 69 and the others two comeback of MS66.

True Ngc & Pcgs do charge to much.
that way one has to be very picky on any 1964 MS or Proof coin when thinking about grading
